Academy FAQ

All Business Plans, Guidebooks, Forms, Manuals and other products may be purchased individually, or where available in bundled packages.

If you are a new amusement developer looking for additional resources, guidance or project startup assistance, one of our Academy memberships may be a good choice.

Childrens Entertainment Center: For smaller, indoor play cafe’s or party centers that plan to offer an indoor playground and/or toddler play.

Family Entertainment Center: For projects with multiple attractions, and services. The FEC Business Plan is the basis for the Academy Developer program.

If you are getting started and looking for some experienced amusement business resources, industry knowledge, materials and courses, the Member, Startup or Student Memberships are a great option.

Get access to Academy content, discounts on our products, along with great new content weekly.

If you decide to upgrade to the Academy Insider program, any shop purchases and/or the Student membership can be redeemed towards the full program purchase.

All Academy courses and field guides are defined by your site membership. Lower member tiers are included in higher tiers. The Academy Insider program grants full site access with it’s own set of exclusive courses and content.

Academy content and materials are updated weekly, however, updates may not affect all membership levels equally.

The Academy Insider Program is our complete Startup program, available in (2) project types;

• CEC – Children’s Entertainment Center
• FEC – Family Entertainment Center

Each includes both business plans, all forms and manuals, all of our industry guidebooks. Includes a 12 month site membership and access to the full Insider Video Modules, coaching, consultation and ongoing mentoring – and other features as described on the Academy Insider page.

The core mission of the program is focused on completing your project feasibility and business plan. However, the program is ‘concept to completion’ with specific guidance and coaching through on-going project consultations;

  • Location
  • Attractions
  • Operations
  • Finance
  • Management
  • Marketing & Growth

Providing the project developer with a broad perspective on startup, operations and amusement business management.

The course is flexible and dynamic based on your project scope (CEC or FEC) and can be adapted to smaller indoor play cafe’s, indoor playgrounds, up to multi-attraction family entertainment centers.

If you are struggling with project feasibility, market analysis and the process of completing your business plan, the Academy Insider program is a great choice to help you understand your market opportunity, complete a local feasibility analysis and develop a business plan that can get funded.

Insider Membership is for 12 months. You can proceed as fast as you want, or take any time you need. If something gets in your way, you have 12 months to come back and continue. The Academy course is based on the (7) modules that follow the (included) business plan;

• Demographics
• Competitive Analysis
• Lease Space
• Build-out & Attractions
• Revenues
• Operating Expense
• ROI Analysis

Along with ongoing consultations for each module.

Realistically, and depending on your project scope, with research, location acquisition, plan development and financing, completion can take from 6-8 weeks and longer.

You have access anytime, and can schedule as much time as you need with your coach.

There are no “online classes” per se… the program is delivered one-to-one via the program videos for each of the course modules, supported by live telephone consultation to address your specific challenges.

Each module is presented in logical order with the business plan, and contains individual videos to support that module.

As you work through the business plan, each module/video includes our coaching via direct consultation and the academy forum and program downloads.

The videos provide the direct instruction on what and how to complete each plan module, and the consultations are more the ‘classroom’ instruction to support and explore the various aspects of your project development.

Discussions around startup, funding, location, attraction mix, layout and facility design, project build-out, management and operations, along with initial marketing of the business.

Together the materials, video and consultations create the completed Insider program.

Take up to 12 months to finish the program. Your project will go through our final critique and review (if desired), receiving our stamp of approval for project feasibility.

The video modules are designed to help you understand and use the business plan, and build your market analysis and project feasibility.

Program coaching and consultations are to support that planning and to explore the full development of your project goals.

You can schedule a 30-60 minute consultation with your coach online anytime with 24 hours advance notice. We are also available for quick questions via email, or in the Academy forum.

If you are looking to start an indoor fun center business, yes.

It is based on the North American market, however – ‘family-friendly’ here is pretty much the same as family friendly elsewhere.

Differences perhaps in local preferences for food, party packages, operating hours, attractions, pricing or group bookings,… but the process of startup, funding, location, project build-out, are generally the same.

Absolutely!
